Our digital ways largely make obsolete the printing of photos – something I do fight against. Displaying photography at home is good for the soul and it is proven to be especially beneficial for children to be surrounded by pictures of their family, their holiday, their dog, the local park, the day they had ice cream. Looking at photos gives them a feeling of self and helps them determining their place in their own social circle.
Old photos are a passion of mine. Unfortunately, they often get treated rather badly or live a sad life in an old, mouldy shoe box. Here is where our digital ways come in handy: the old photo can be restored to its former glory and a kept safe while a print can be displayed and handed around at the coffee table without worry of exposure to sunlight and coffee stains.
